Cover Girl Field Trip

Anyway, so we got this bright idea to skip school with little money that we did have and head for times square for Queen Latifah’s casting call for the new Cover Girl. (sigh) Leaving at 7am, Ashlee and I take the train in hopes of meeting Zaire at Penn Station. Poor Kim. She thought it’d be a better idea to go to class instead. She did have a lot of work to do. Well in lieu of the absurdity of the situation, we decided to be smart…dress cute, but warm. Flat shoes, fitting jeans and turtleneck. Great! We’re off. Zaire meets us in New York. We grab coffee and we walk 10 whole blocks. Wonderful! The line is only semi-wrapped around the block. We stand. And we stand. And we stand. 12 noon hits. Kim calls. She’s on her way. She would never forgive herself for missing this opportunity. She drives. She parks. By now Ashlee, Zaire and I are frozen solid. We can't breath through the tissues and scarves covering our mouths and nose. Thank God for the man who just happened to be selling extra socks and gloves on the street. Though he ran when he saw the cops, we were grateful. Kim skips the line to join us. She's wearing a fur coat. We slightly resent her for being both warm and cute while we were both cold and miserable. So we wait. And we wait. And we wait. And we wait. 4pm rolls around. They tell us that if we don’t have a blue ticket we don’t get in. Blue Ticket! What the @#@%! We stay waiting in denial for another ½ hour. We leave. The end.
