chasing after the prestige of being “THE chosen one, called of God.”
Just another preacher whipping up a good ole’ sermon to get the crowd stirred
and a few wet eyes on the altar to confirm my gift

hollerin’
high heel wearin’
TBN preachin’
woman of God
deceived into believing that the greater the show I put on, the greater the move of God.

My face is changing.
My moods deranging.
On the verge of losing self
fearing daily that I’ll soon become what it is that I despised:
Typical.
Becoming one with the text and not with the word that was made flesh.
